Everything you ever wanted to know about kombucha (and some things you didn't).
Kombucha is a naturally fermented tea drink. It starts with organic tea and sugar, which is then fermented using a SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast). The fermentation process produces naturally occurring organic acids, B vitamins, and live cultures.
The result is a refreshing, slightly fizzy drink with a distinctive tangy flavour.
Kombucha has been consumed for over 2,000 years, originating in East Asia. Today it's one of the fastest-growing functional beverage categories worldwide.
Every single ingredient in ProKulture is certified organic by the IOA and EU. Many kombucha brands claim "natural" — we're certified organic. There's a legal difference.
Pasteurisation kills the beneficial cultures that make kombucha worth drinking. ProKulture is never heat-treated, so you get the full benefit of live cultures in every bottle.
Our proprietary LiFe process means ProKulture doesn't need refrigeration before opening. Ship it, store it, take it anywhere — the cultures stay viable. This is how we deliver nationwide without cold chain.
Less than 3g of sugar per 100ml. Most soft drinks have 10g+. We achieve genuine flavour through real fruit and botanicals, not sugar. Award-winning taste proves you don't need sugar for great flavour.
We start with certified organic tea, brewed strong. This is the foundation.
Our culture colony is added to the sweet tea. Fermentation begins.
Over 2-3 weeks, the SCOBY transforms sugar into organic acids, CO2, and beneficial compounds. We monitor pH, temperature, and flavour daily.
Real fruit and botanicals are added. Secondary fermentation creates natural carbonation. Bottled fresh, sealed, and ready to ship.
Kombucha contains naturally occurring live cultures, also known as probiotics. These beneficial bacteria may support digestive health as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.
ProKulture kombucha also contains naturally occurring B vitamins and organic acids produced during fermentation.
While kombucha has a long tradition as a wellness drink, we believe the best reason to drink it is because it tastes brilliant and it's a genuinely better alternative to sugary soft drinks.
ProKulture makes no medical claims. Kombucha is a food product, not a medicine. If you have specific health concerns, consult your healthcare provider.
